Friends in Videris: Meet Yayoi

Hi Yayoi! Tell us a little about yourself, what you do, and where you're from?

Born in NZ and half Japanese. I’ve had a pretty intense career in the dance world as a professional ballerina. Now I’m just chilling, enjoying the beautiful nature and lifestyle back home. I’m currently involved in the fitness industry presenting and instructing, and also a pilates instructor with dancers and non dancers :)

When did you start dancing?

I began dancing when I was 8 years old. My mum took me to Ponsonby School of Dance, and from there I was hooked!

What brings you joy?

Being logged off and lost in nature 100% Being around people with the same energy level and who bring the best out of you - vice versa. I’d say I’m an introvert, so being alone also gives me joy and peace.

Which is your favourite Videris lingerie colour and why?

I love them all! Sounds cheesy but I tend to wear colours depending on my mood and energy. The red is definitely a vibe for sure, and the white is a must have - super clean, fresh and pure.

What does an ideal day look like for you?

AM - Wake up to the birds. Cup of warm lemon water. Sunrise dip in the ocean. 10min meditation, breath work and stretch. 30-40min run or read. Celery juice. Work.

PM - Sunset surf or see friends and family. Prep dinner and the following day of teaching. Water the Garden and check in with the chickens and goats. Then spend quality time with bae for the rest of the evening. Jump in the sauna or hot tub

What makes a good friendship?

Sharing the same interests, being truthful to yourself and the other - not being afraid to show your flaws. Listening and being present to each other. Showing respect and showing up when you say you would, but most importantly having the best fun EVER!!

What is 2022 going to look like for you?

A lot of love to family, friends and myself. More learning and growth personally and with work. Facing more fears, but who knows what will come. Just keep moving, accept and do your best!
